Believing is achieving

Our Learning

We went on a short visit this week across the road to the community centre so we could continue our learning in RE and PSHE about community. We had different challenges and had to consider how the community centre is used and how it brings people together. While we were there, we helped to litter pick, used the park and also spoke to the local community. The community centre was even kind enough to give each of us a Lego figure which was a nice surprise.

During a writing lesson, we practised using direct speech and punctuating it correctly. It felt very strange writing on the tables.

We have been writing up the findings of a science experiment we completed on whether materials would dissolve or not.

In Writing, we have been creating compound sentences about the characters from Beowulf.  We hope to use these sentences in our Graphic Recount of the battle between Grendel and Beowulf.

In Reading, we have been exploring the motives of the different characters: Grendel, Beowulf and Hrothgar.  We have loved comparing various versions of the Anglo-Saxon legend 'Beowulf'.

Due to the wet weather this week, we had to complete our PE learning in the hall. We paused our Ultimate Frisbee learning and practised some different throwing skills during a game of Dodgeball.

Like all year groups, we have been designing our Cauliflower Christmas Cards. These will come home soon to order. We have been practising continuous line drawing and then using a water colour wash to make them festive.

We have been focusing on number lines in our Maths learning. We have identified the value of numbers up to 10,000 and then thought about where they may be placed on structured number lines. Although we have found accuracy tricky, we have worked hard by persevering and correcting our mistakes.
