Learning Journals
Your child will have an online Learning Journal through the Tapestry website and this is where we store all the observations that we make about what your child is learning. You will also have access and will be able to add in your own observations about your child's learning at home. The more you tell us about what your child enjoys and what they have been doing the better we can tailor the learning to suit them.
What are we learning?
Children learn best through play. If a child attends school everyday day that they can then they are here for about 1,000 hours every year, but that also means that they are at home for about 7,500!
You can use Tapestry to see what we have been up to in school. If you reinforce what your child is taught in school at home then learning happens faster and becomes more embedded. Upload what you have done at home to Tapestry so we can see what you have been up to and allow us the opportunity to give your child personalised challenges.

This week, please complete the English and maths task, one choice from the grid and the task of writing a letter to your new teacher. As there is an additional task this week, please complete the home learning and email it to homelearning@springwood.hants.sch.uk by Tuesday 21st July at 3:00. This is when school closes for the Summer. The homelearning email address will not be active after Wednesday 22nd July.

Art – All About Me! This is an activity that will be very personal to you. You are going to create a collage or picture that reflects who you are. Your likes and loves; the things that are important to you.

PSHE When things are different, it is important that we think about how we feel and keep track of our emotions. Complete the personal weekly log on the attached sheet and speak to a grown up about how the changes in your life have made you feel. If you do not want to speak to anybody, you can put your thoughts on paper and send them to the home learning email address. |

Science Most plants begin life beneath the ground. They grow from seeds, which drop into the soil. There is a way you can see what happens out of sight under ground. A bean is the seed of a plant. You can grow it in a glass jar, where you can see it clearly… Why not investigate how the roots grow? We would also love to see any other plants/ vegetables that you have spent time growing so far this summer |

Art This week you are going to draw a picture of yourself. This is called a self-portrait. Over the years, many artists have created pictures of themselves. They use their own unique style to capture how they look. Look at the attachment for some ideas and inspiration.

PSHE It is important that we think about friendships and relationships, the qualities we like in our friends and how to be good friends to others. Use the KS1 or KS2 Relationships PowerPoint found on the class pages to discuss as a family and complete the activities. |

PSHE Consider the questions on the attached card and the significance of the universal symbol of hope being used during this pandemic. You may have created a rainbow to display but if you have not or if you want to create one in a different media, now is a good time to share your symbol of hope as more people are going out so will get chance to see what is displayed in your window or on the pavement. |
