Our learning

Wire Sculpture Workshop

On Tuesday 20th February we were very lucky to have a visitor come and see us for a wire sculpture workshop. This was based around our Writing quality text driver The Tin Forest. We had lots of fun creating our art pieces and learnt lots of new skills and techniques. All of the children tried their hardest and showed so much perseverance!

Art- Clay heads

In Art we used clay to create the head of Guy Fawkes.  We used different techniques to make the facial features.

PE

This half term we are focusing on Dance and looking at the theme 'water.'  During our first lesson we explored different words we would use to describe water, such as; ripple, crash, splash, drip and spiral.  Can you guess the word from our movements?

Autumn 1

Writing

In Writing we have looked at The Journey by Aaron Becker and Flat Stanley by Jeff Brown.

One day we came into school and Stanley had appeared in our Year 2 area.

We read the story and wrote some instructions on 'How to travel around the world in an envelope'.

Two days later we received a postcard from him on his travels after following our instructions!

PE

In PE we have been learning about Gymnastics and Locomotion dodging. We've had lots of fun in Gymnastics getting the equipment out in the hall.

Design Technology

In DT this term we are going to be making smoothies.

We began by becoming food detectives using our senses to think about and describe different fruits and vegetables.

Music

In Music with Mrs Cain we have been learning about African Percussion and have had lots of fun learning about lots of different instruments.

Computing

In computing we have been revisiting BeeBots and reminding ourselves how to program them. We created BeeBot worlds and have been set different challenges every week.
